Wendy emigrated from the UK to New Zealand 21 years ago and was immediately struck by the high incidence of skin cancer. Seeing the need for early detection and accessible care, I began specialising in skin cancer diagnosis and management.
In 2014, Wendy completed the Advanced Clinical Certificate of Dermoscopy and the Diploma of Dermoscopy through the Skin Cancer College of Australasia. She has also gained the Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine, which reinforced her skills in diagnosis, clinical examination, Dermoscopy, and minor surgical procedures such as shave, punch, and elliptical excisions with suturing. Both surgical and non-surgical treatment options are part of my ongoing clinical approach.
Wendy obtained a Diploma in Health Education in Community Health Care earlier in her career. She remains passionate about empowering clients with the knowledge they need. Education has always been a core part of her practice.
Five years ago, Wendy established the Skin Cancer Clinic at HMC, which is now operating as a ‘one-stop clinic’. Here, patients can receive full-body skin checks, treatment options, minor surgical procedures, or referrals — all under one roof, eliminating the need to travel between multiple providers.
During your spot check (mole map), Wendy will take the time to explain what to look for, so you can monitor your skin confidently between visits. Patients can also enrol in HMC’s personalised recall system, ensuring follow-up care is provided according to individual needs.
