Happy New Year! We hope you’ve had a wonderful start to 2026!
We are writing to inform you about an important change to our Walk-In Clinic services.

Henderson Medical Centre will continue to offer walk-in care for our registered patients who are experiencing acute concerns or injuries that require urgent attention. However, we are refining our approach to children’s care. Previously, we welcomed all children, regardless of the nature of their concern, to attend the walk-in clinic. Moving forward, we will adopt the same criteria for children as we do for adults in that walk-in visits will be available only for acute concerns or injuries that require immediate attention.

We believe that scheduled appointments provide healthcare providers with the necessary time to review your child’s medical history, allowing for more personalised and focused care. This approach helps avoid rushed assessments for issues outside the scope of urgent care. In a scheduled appointment, the doctor or nurse can give your child their undivided attention, which is often difficult in a walk-in setting due to high patient volume.

To summarise, while walk-in visits are great for urgent concerns or injuries, booking an appointment for more complex or ongoing conditions ensures a more comprehensive, less stressful, and more effective care experience. This way, your child’s specific needs will be addressed with proper attention and follow-up. This change will take effect on Monday, 12th January 2026.

A Nurse Prescriber will also continue to provide cover in the walk-in clinic alongside our GP, offering direct support for a broad range of acute presentations.

Thank you, and we look forward to continuing to care for you and your family.
